Gorgeous, early piece of Noritake China (marked with the early "M" between the laurel leaf wreath to indicate Morimura Brothers, who later founded Noritake China). Antique Pre-1921 NIPPON Noritake / Morimura Brothers Bone China Porcelain Plate Hand Painted Serene Colors Gilded Border and Edge with Moriage Inset Trim Gorgeous , early piece of Noritake China (marked with the early "M" between the laurel leaf wreath to indicate Morimura Brothers, who later founded Noritake China).  Marking on back also includes "Hand Painted NIPPON," which dates the piece between 1891 and 1921.  I'd suggest it's likely early 1900s, just after the Victorian Period and entering America's Art Nouveau Period, judging from the truly serene pastoral colors (including a deep earthy celadon one-inch inset border that includes raised surface grapes, grape leaves, and vines done in a style akin to the Moriage style (decorating the surface of ceramics with three-dimensional patterns using brushes, bamboo skewers, etc.). Measures approximately 11 inches in diameter and 1.25 inches high.  Weighs just under 2 lbs.  Beautiful piece of handcrafted / painted bone china porcelain (passes translucency test).  In addition to the earthy deep / dark celadon inset border (my favorite part of the plate), sandwiched between the expertly done gilded edge and inset border, the interior painting tones are quintessential Art Nouveau, subdued yet dramatic and in shades of earth, azure, lilac / lavender, straw yellow.  The hand painted scene is a patch of land bordering a lake, with sheep grazing in the right foreground, billowing trees to the left, and a castle at center and at right, with mountains in the distance.  No visible artist's signature.  Matte finish. The plate was made as a decorative piece, including hanging holes incorporated into the firing process.  Because it's been hanging for more than 100 years, it's been untouched and impeccably maintained.  There are lots of pieces of Noritake out there; I'd propose this one is unique in its coloring, detail, and craftsmanship.   From a superb, fine estate in Newport, Rhode Island, home of America's Gilded Age.   Exquisite!  Essentially pristine antique (100+ years old) pre-owned condition.  Plate is truly in SUPERB condition, likely as vibrant and beautiful as the date it was created in the late 1800s / early 1900s.  No visible damage, chips, scratches, or losses.  Gilding is fully intact and spectacular.    This piece is a knockout!  It would easily compete as a top contender in any decorative collection.
