It shows authentic signs of age, including cracking, chipping, and areas of gesso/finish loss on the black outer border (most notably a missing strip on the left edge and minor wear on the bottom carving). Up for sale is a beautiful Antique Victorian Oval Picture Frame dating from the late 1800s. This piece features a classic ebonized black outer molding accented with delicate floral gesso relief details. The inner liner is a stunning, heavily detailed gold-leaf band with embossed patterning that creates an elegant contrast. The back features a classic Victorian multi-segment wood construction and includes a fascinating, authentic hand-written pencil inscription detailing the piece's provenance/ family history.
