The No. 6 is Stanley’s traditional fore-plane size, larger than a No. 5 jack plane and shorter than a No. 7 jointer. Vintage STANLEY No. 6 fore/bench plane measuring approximately 18 inches long. This full-size cast-iron woodworking plane is marked “No. 6” on the body and “MADE IN USA,” with STANLEY branding visible on the plane assembly. The No. 6 is Stanley’s traditional fore-plane size, larger than a No. 5 jack plane and shorter than a No. 7 jointer. The plane appears substantially complete with cast body, cutter/iron, lever cap, frog and adjustment hardware, front knob, and rear wood tote present. It has not been sharpened or tested on wood, so cutting performance, blade edge condition, frog alignment, and adjustment accuracy are not guaranteed. Used vintage unrestored condition with widespread surface oxidation and rust, dark patina, scratches, discoloration, finish/japanning loss, and general age/use wear throughout. The wooden tote and front knob show substantial finish loss, staining, scratches, and handling wear. The sole also shows oxidation and surface wear. No obvious major crack or break in the cast-iron body is visible in the photos.
