View 1940’s Asian BONSAI Chinese Gardens Chinois Mid Century Barkcloth Vintage Fabric with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. It is signed on the edge but I can’t make it out.see photos and especially the video of my big arm and citron swatch watch for scale and color comparison. If you haven’t noticed there is a tiny little man in a hat at the base of the bonsai driftwood statue. Barkcloth designers spared no cultural inspirations when it came to creating textiles from the 1930's through the 1950's...it was done in a artful and fun way...using dramatic images in colors meant to provoke excitement and a historical asian perspective...and certainly there was no escaping the flagrant colors of this raw red with iconic pops of turquoise and chartreuse citrons...it is called "Design Chippendale" qand is signed on the selvedge...that offers this design in influences of rococo and baroque with an Asian flair.  This offering is for ONE YARD x 49 inches wide of unused unwashed 1930's 40's barkcloth yardage...I have 5YDS available sold by the yard...the more you buy the more will come in continuous yardage.  A delightful bold red ground...with turquoise green...yellow orange...minty celery...dark emerald...soft gray taupes...with black and white accents.
