These boots were a personal gift to me directly from the original United States Army Officer who privately purchased and wore them during World War II, and who was my father's best friend and colleague. As an equestrian myself (which was a main reasons I was given the boots), I have taken special care to ensure they have been properly stored and safely preserved in a smoke-free, climate-controlled environment ever since they were given to me in the mid-1980's.  These boots are an incredible piece of American history, which have passed through only two sets of hands in over 80 years. In addition, this officer has a fully documented historical footprint. A significant, beautifully preserved trove of the wartime letters that he sent home during his military service is permanently on file within the West Virginia State Archives.
