Latches/hardware is present, one lid is broken and repaired previously. No repair work has been done while I owned it. Antique Humpback Steamer Trunk, Sea Chest - 1870s / 1880s. All wood with steel cladding. Multicolor - dark brown stained wood, black painted metal and another metal that appears to be a copper or copper-like finish. All hardware present, including internal tilt-latch and key, but lock doesn’t turn with it. One of the leather handles is broken, but present (appears to have been repaired previously. There are faint remnants of very old, interesting labels on one end. All four wheels on the bottom are present and work. Wood skids on bottom show the most wear, but are in reasonably good shape. Lid has a latched compartment and document pouch. Tray has three compartments. Latches/hardware is present, one lid is broken and repaired previously. The interior bottom shows some stains from past water damage (see photos) but there is no odor and the wood in these spots is sturdy. The trunk has been in my possession for 35 years in a dry, climate controlled, smoke free, pet free environment. No repair work has been done while I owned it.
