It charts every continent known to Europeans circa 1719: the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and New Holland (Australia), with precise markings for the equator, polar circles, transoceanic sailing routes, colonial settlements and offshore islands. Six supplementary scientific inset charts surround the main hemispheres: dual North/South polar projections, a diagram of the world’s five climate belts, and a graph illustrating global day-night length variation. At the bottom, allegorical statues of Europe and Atlas the Titan frame a full armillary celestial sphere to visualise astronomical geometry.
