View c. 1855 Ambrotype Woman Wearing Fur Cape Hand Tinted Case with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. Format: Sixth-plate ambrotype. Good antique condition with age-related wear throughout. Ambrotype remains clear and readily viewable, with scattered spotting, surface speckling, scratches, and minor deterioration visible across the image. Mid-19th-century cased ambrotype portrait of an unidentified woman dressed in striking period clothing, including a full plaid skirt, dark bonnet or head covering with floral trim, and fur-trimmed cape or outerwear. The portrait is lightly hand tinted at the cheeks and is housed beneath an ornate gilt brass mat and preserver in its complete period case, retaining the richly embossed exterior panels, deep red velvet pad, hinges, and closure hardware. An especially appealing early photographic portrait for its strong costume detail and complete decorative presentation.
