The reticulated Rococo basket is carried by two cherubs and wrapped in a dense garland of applied roses in pink, yellow and violet tones. Schierholz was renowned for its female artisans (“Blumenarbeiterinnen”) who shaped each petal individually, giving Plaue floral work its distinctive depth and realism. The modelling of the cherubs—softly curled hair and naturalistic proportions—reflects the late-nineteenth-century Plaue sculptural style.
