Antique Meiji Period Japan Japanese Cloisonne Butterflies Floral Pattern Fired Enamel Brass Teapot 1850-1899 No Lid 19th C in very good pre owned condition. No chips or cracks. No lid. Some of the cloisonne gold accents are worn, commensurate with its age. Fired enamel areas have tiny air bubbles from the manufacturing process as shown in photos. Interior is blue enamel glazed. Teapot is metal, not sure of its composition, but the feet and metal trim around lid are the color of antique brass. I would call it a medium weight. I'm not an expert on these, by any means. Research says all sorts of different metals including cast iron were used to make these teapots, so I have no way to tell.
