Beautiful vintage Italian maiolica pitcher by Ceramiche El Frate of Deruta, Italy, hand decorated in a striking turquoise, green, ochre and dark brown palette. The pitcher has an especially appealing low, broad form measuring approximately 9 inches in diameter and 4 inches tall. Repeating stylized scallop or shell motifs encircle the body, separated by small crosshatched geometric panels. Turquoise wave and dot decoration surrounds the neck and rim, while the large arched handle is finished with additional ochre and brown hand-painted detailing.
