Vintage Basket Pattern Quilt – Hand Pieced & Hand Quilted – Circa 1930s–1940s Beautiful vintage American quilt featuring a charming Basket quilt pattern made from an assortment of colorful small-scale cotton prints. The quilt has a wonderfully authentic Depression-era/early mid-century appearance, with pink, red, blue, green, yellow, lavender, floral, plaid, checked and novelty fabrics arranged throughout the basket blocks. The baskets feature distinctive curved handles and individually pieced geometric sections. The quilt has been hand pieced and hand quilted, with extensive traditional quilting visible throughout the white cotton background. Several of the tiny prints, checks and plaids are wonderfully characteristic of early-to-mid 20th-century quilting fabrics. CONDITION This is an old, used textile with honest age and condition issues, which are reflected in the price. There are a few small holes/losses in the top fabric and two visible stains. There is also general age-related discoloration, wrinkling and wear consistent with an older handmade quilt. The quilt remains structurally intact and displays beautifully. Please examine all photographs carefully, as the photographs are an important part of the condition description. I have photographed the known stains and areas of fabric loss so that the condition is represented accurately. I have not attempted to aggressively clean or restore this quilt. For a vintage textile of this age, preserving the original fabric and condition is preferable to risking damage through improper washing or restoration.
