Antique Victorian Beaded Reticule – c.1900 Floral Glass Microbead Crochet Drawstring Purse A beautiful and unusually detailed antique beaded reticule/pouch dating to approximately the late Victorian–early Edwardian period, circa 1890–1905. This petite flat pouch measures approximately 7” long × 4¼” wide. The purse is covered in exceptionally fine glass seed/microbead beadwork, forming a charming multicolored floral and foliage design. The design features delicate pink, red, white, green and striking blue flowers against a pale beaded ground. The upper portion is particularly special, with intricate brown openwork crochet incorporating clear glass beads, finished with a twisted brown-and-black drawstring. The workmanship and unusual combination of beadwork and crochet give this little reticule considerable character. The interior reveals the original textile construction and additional beadwork/crochet detail. Dating Based on its construction, materials, floral design and drawstring reticule form, I believe this piece dates to approximately 1890–1905, late Victorian/early Edwardian. The purse displays beautifully, but please remember that it is well over 100 years old.
