Beautiful and unusual vintage handcrafted enamel floral brooch, believed to date to approximately the mid-20th century, circa 1945–1970. This substantial round brooch features a striking dimensional floral design in vivid orange-red, golden yellow and deep green, accented by raised copper/gold-tone details. One of the most distinctive features is the highly textured multicolored frit/confetti-style enamel background, composed of tiny fragments of white, turquoise, green, yellow, red and other colors fused into the surface. The floral decoration has considerable dimension and appears to combine several enameling effects, including opaque and translucent colors over a metal base. The reverse is also extensively enameled with a mottled green and multicolor finish. The pin mechanism is attached to the reverse with a clear/translucent adhesive or resin. I do not know whether this is original to the construction or represents an old repair.
