I have not attempted to clean or polish the piece. Beautiful vintage Chinese enamel-on-metal covered box featuring a hand-painted figural scene of a woman and child in a garden setting. The rectangular box has softly rounded corners and a domed hand-painted lid with colorful traditional Chinese figures, flowers and landscape details. Metal construction appears to be brass/copper-based with enamel decoration on the lid. Unmarked as far as I can determine. Shows considerable age-related wear including surface scratches, discoloration, oxidation/patina to the metal, staining and general wear. The interior and underside show substantial patina consistent with age. I have not attempted to clean or polish the piece. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are an important part of the condition description.
