It is a double-blade plane (二枚刃) — the main blade works with a matching chipbreaker, held by a steel retaining pin. The dai (body) is quarter-sawn White Oak (白樫 / Shirakashi) , with the silver ray fleck running the length of both sides, and it carries the shop's blue 登録商標 市蔵 label marked 硬質材用 (for hard timber) and 本職用 (professional use), with the gold 36 m/m size plate below it.
