Gambaro & Poggi was a renowned Murano glass furnace  founded in 1974 by master glassmakers Mario Gambaro and Bruno Poggi . The studio gained international acclaim for blending classical Venetian techniques with modern, experimental finishes, later evolving into the celebrated  Gambaro & Tagliapietra glass company. Origins and Early Training Both Mario Gambaro and Bruno Poggi were born and raised on the island of Murano. Before launching their own company, they honed their skills by apprenticing under legendary glass masters like Archimede Seguso and Alfredo Barbini. They also worked for prestigious companies, including Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Vincenzo Nason, and Barovier & Toso.  The Evolution of the Brand In 1974, the brothers-in-law decided to establish their own studio,  Vetreria Artistica Gambaro & Poggi .  Signature Styles:  The studio became famous for its refined craftsmanship, specializing in vases, bowls, sculptures, and chandeliers. They expanded their catalog to produce around 1,300 distinct articles in 85 different colors. Innovative Finishes:  They were particularly celebrated for applying the  scavo  technique—a surface treatment that gives the glass an elegantly corroded, antique, archaeological appearance. Legacy:  The original furnace eventually evolved into the well-known glass company  Gambaro & Tagliapietra , which is still known for producing both traditional Murano craftsmanship and limited-collection art pieces.
