Vintage Aldo Londi for Bitossi Italian ceramic ashtray , model 1582 , featuring a striking bright orange glaze and colorful abstract interior decoration. This small Mid-Century Modern ashtray has a round form with a single cigarette rest and measures approximately 4 inches in diameter x 1 inch high . The interior is especially attractive, featuring an abstract multicolor design in shades of green, blue, purple, cream and black beneath a distinctive crackle-style glaze. The exterior and rim are finished in a vivid glossy orange. The underside is hand-marked: 1582 ITALY The 1582 Italy marking is consistent with documented vintage Bitossi ashtrays attributed to designer Aldo Londi . Londi was Bitossi's longtime artistic director and created numerous ceramic designs for the company during the Mid-Century Modern period. Condition: Pre-owned vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear, small marks, glaze imperfections and some wear along the rim.
