This appears to be an old press or publicity-style photograph with licensing text on the reverse. An absolutely striking large-format vintage photograph capturing the launching of the U.S.S. Iowa battleship surrounded by massive shipyard scaffolding and crowds gathered below. The scale and industrial detail in this image are incredible — a true piece of American naval and maritime history. Even in its fragile state, this photograph has tremendous display presence. The dramatic perspective of the battleship towering within the launch structure gives it that classic wartime industrial aesthetic collectors love. This appears to be an old press or publicity-style photograph with licensing text on the reverse. Pencil notation on the back reads “Launching U.S.S.
