Vintage sterling silver Navajo concho belt with excellent repousse forms and stamp work. The Buckle is large and designed well. It measures about 3 3/4 by 3 1/8 inches. The stamp work and repousse forms are excellent. On the reverse is the hallmark of the artist, which is a small applied silverplate that has the words “Ben” and “Sterling” (see photos). I have not been able to identify the artist from this marking. The five Conchos are oval in shape and are second phase style with two copper loops soldered on the rear of each. They are each backed with leather as often seen. Like the buckle, the conchos have standard traditional patterns of stamping around the scalloped edges. Repousse work radiates outward from a central diamond. The conchos each measure about 3 by 2 1/2!inches. There are six Butterflies each measuring 2 1/2 by 1 inch. They are covered with stamping and repousse to match the conchos and buckle. They are also backed with leather. The brown Leather is in excellent overall condition. The total length from the buckle to the leather tip is about 62 inches, with holes currently punched at about 38 to 42 inches. There is space to add more holes in either direction if needed. This is a stylish and well executed Navajo concho belt with the total weight being heavy with silver, weighing approximately 557 grams or about 17.9 troy ounces.
