Shoulder to shoulder, 14 in. underarm to underarm, shoulder to waist is 12 in. The lined skirt waist is 12 in. front waist to hem, 42 ½ in. back waist to hem; hem circumference is 120 in. and had to be worn with a crinoline; finished hem. Antique Original Civil War Era 1860s Brown and Black Silk Plaid Dress Beautiful Sewn by a highly skilled dressmaker from beautiful plaid silk, this two-piece dress was made sometime around 1860.    The bodice has stays and long sleeves, dropped at the shoulder and trimmed with a small bow at the wrist, hook and eye closure.    Measured flat it is 17 in. shoulder to shoulder, 14 in. underarm to underarm, shoulder to waist is 12 in.    The lined skirt waist is 12 in. measured flat and has a train; it measures 38 ½ in. front waist to hem, 42 ½ in. back waist to hem; hem circumference is 120 in. and had to be worn with a crinoline; finished hem.    Origin unknown but found in New England.  While there are a few tiny spots in the skirt and the bodice has is a tiny tear and light underarm staining, the condition is very good++. The material is not fragile. This is from my personal collection of antique clothing.  Condition: Pre-owned - Good.
