The gown features a flat front with a fully gathered back designed to accommodate a generous bustle. Secures with hooks and eyes , with interior stays (likely whalebone, celluloid, or metal — unconfirmed). The gown is lined entirely in polished brown cotton of the period, with both hand and early machine stitching evident.
