Vintage hand-painted composition plaster church marked Made in Japan, intended for an antique train layout, putz display or holiday village. This church came from a matching collection of vintage Japanese-made composition railroad and village buildings. It features yellow walls, bright red roofs, blue and red window details, a green base and ornate molded architectural decoration. A large circular opening on the rear allowed a small light to be positioned inside the building. No bulb, socket or wiring is included. The church remains attractive and displays well, but it has age-related condition issues. Portions of the front doorway/window framework and several smaller window inserts are broken or missing. There are paint chips, scratches, discoloration, surface wear and minor edge wear throughout. The main composition body, tower and roof sections appear intact. The underside is marked MADE IN JAPAN. The exact manufacturer and production year are unknown. Commonly displayed with vintage O-gauge and prewar-style toy train layouts, but it was not made to a confirmed exact scale.
