I am gradually selling my salt cellar and individual nut dish collection that at one time was over 1,800 pieces.   This particular piece has been in my collection since the 1980s. The salt is signed on the underside with a “Hand Painted RC Nippon” mark in green & red. A salt of a similar shape is pictured in the book 5,000 Open Salts by William Heacock & Patricia Johnson as Photo # 1714. AGE AND CONDITION: Probably circa 1915.   It is in excellent to near mint original condition.   Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item.   There are no chips, flea bites, scratches, repairs, hairlines or cracks to the porcelain.   There is some extremely minor age-related wear to the gold decoration, it is near mint – see the photos.   Please keep in mind the photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.   It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS : About 2.75” (7 cm) long by about 1.75” (4.4 cm) wide and sits about .5” (1.3 cm) off the table.
