NIPPON CHINA TRAY OPEN SALT CELLAR DIP 100% HAND PAINTED PINK FLOWERS & BLUE This is a gorgeous and ornately decorated little Nippon china salt dip or celery salt.   To me, this is a celery salt; that is these were originally made in sets (Master + several salts) for serving celery and are typically fairly shallow little trays.   This one is in an elongated oval tray shape with squared off ends and has 2 pierced handles.   It is elaborately and skillfully hand-painted and decorated with pink flower blossoms and blue-gray foliage; unusual and very attractive.   It is further decorated with hand painted gold trim and gold beading to the rim. A beautiful and desirable little salt cellar, celery salt or individual nut dish. I am gradually selling my salt cellar and individual nut dish collection that at one time was over 1,800 pieces.   These had been in my collection since 1985. It is signed on the bottom with a “Hand Painted Nippon” green wreath mark.   I do not see a salt of this same shape in the book 5,000 Open Salts by William Heacock & Patricia Johnson.   I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability.   Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color.   However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures.   I will get back to you as soon as I am able.   I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.   It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS : About 3.625” (9.2 cm) long by about 2.375” (6 cm) wide and sits about .625” (1.6 cm) off the table.
