A marked pair of Egyptian Revival drop earrings of the 1920s. Below hangs a large frosted pale blue molded glass drop decorated with three roundels of scrolled volutes in relief. The reverse of each glass drop is impressed CZECHO, the country mark used on Czechoslovakian exports between the wars. A marked pair of Egyptian Revival drop earrings of the 1920s. Each earring is built on a die-struck gilt brass plaque of a PHARAOH HEAD in a striped nemes headcloth, set with clear and blue rhinestones, hung from a decorated gilt cap. Below hangs a large frosted pale blue molded glass drop decorated with three roundels of scrolled volutes in relief. The reverse of each glass drop is impressed CZECHO, the country mark used on Czechoslovakian exports between the wars. It marks the country of origin, not a maker. SIZE (approximate): 4 1/2 in. overall, measured from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the drop. 3/4 in. at the widest point. STYLE: Egyptian Revival / Art Deco. Gilt brass with frosted molded glass and rhinestone. AGE (approximate): 1920s-1930s. CONDITION: Very Good. Pierced lever-back findings, both intact and fastening securely. The gilt holds well on both figural plaques and both caps, with a dark patina in the recesses. All clear and blue rhinestones are present and secure. Both frosted molded drops are intact with no chips, the molded scroll relief crisp, and the CZECHO impression sharp on both. No missing stones and no cracks.
