A pair of Egyptian Revival drop earrings of the 1920s. The pair carries no mark of any kind. SIZE (approximate): 4 in. at the widest point. STYLE: Egyptian Revival / Art Deco. A pair of Egyptian Revival drop earrings of the 1920s. Each earring is built on a die-struck plaque of a PHARAOH HEAD in a striped nemes headcloth, framed by openwork scrolls and palmettes and set with green, blue and clear rhinestones. Below hangs a large ornate cone cap of scrolled gilt brass and a large faceted drop of emerald green glass. The pair carries no mark of any kind. The construction - the die-struck brass, the findings, the stone settings and the pressed glass - matches marked Czechoslovakian pieces that came in with it, so the origin is attributed rather than proven. SIZE (approximate): 4 in. overall, measured from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the drop. 1 1/8 in. at the widest point. STYLE: Egyptian Revival / Art Deco. Gilt brass with emerald green glass and rhinestone. AGE (approximate): 1920s-1930s. CONDITION: Very Good. Pierced lever-back findings, both intact and fastening securely. The gilt is worn on the fronts of both figural plaques with a dark patina in the recesses, and the reverses are worn and darkened. The cone caps are the same gilt brass, rubbed to a paler tone on the raised scrollwork. All green, blue and clear rhinestones are present and secure.
