Vintage solid sterling silver medium- to larger sized and sturdy (approx. 1 9/16" tall with rotating bale; weight approx. 2.4-2.5 g) Crucifix pendant featuring a Slavonic Orthodox artisan-style ornate "budded" design with a detailed high-relief image of the Crucified Savior. The reverse displays an engraved inscription of the traditional Slavonic Orthodox prayer meaning "Save and Protect" incorporated into the central horizontal crossbar of the pendant, whereas the vertical crossbar is filled with a Slavic-style floral ornament. The prayer reminds us that Christ the Savior is with us to save and protect a person wearing the cross from every evil and all enemies visible and invisible. The large rotating bale of the pendant bears an openwork image of a two-bar Orthodox cross (a simplified, symbolic version of the three-bar cross venerated as the True Savior’s Cross in the Slavonic Orthodox and some Eastern Catholic churches). It has two punch marks on the back bar, one of which displays the "925" hallmark indicating the "sterling" purity. It has been confirmed using the silver acid test. The pendant has visual vintage appearance with signs of aging and wear that might include diminished quality of the artwork, deformations of its original shape, scratches, dents, and patches of discoloration/patina. The size and weight of the item are shown on the photographs for this listing.
