Vintage solid sterling silver large (approx. 2 1/2" tall with suspension loop and large artisan bale that can fit a thicker chain, ~ 2 1/8" without the bale; weight approx. 7.9 g) Cross pendant featuring fine openwork Byzantine Orthodox design with characteristic trefoil “budded” shape of the crossbar ends symbolizing the Holy Trinity. The Cross appears to have been hand made from solid sterling silver. It is decorated with ancient granulation and twisted wire techniques rooted in early Byzantine jewelry to create a  floral ornament traditionally representing the sprouting vine, an attribute of the Holy Precious and Life-Giving Cross. It might symbolize the life-giving power of the Savior’s Cross, and also refer to the preaching of Christ: "I am the vine; you are the branches" (John 15:5). The reverse displays the "925" print stamped on the round centerpiece indicating the "sterling" purity. It has been confirmed for both the pendant and the bale using the silver acid test. The Cross has visual vintage or antique appearance with signs of aging and wear that might include diminished quality of the artwork, deformations of its original shape, scratches, dents, and patches of dark patina.
